Baptism FAQs

No. Baptism does not save us. Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism is a public way of showing that you have already trusted Him.

Baptism is a step of obedience to Jesus. It publicly declares your faith, identifies you with Christ’s death and resurrection, and celebrates the new life God has given you.

Baptism is for anyone who has personally placed their faith in Jesus.

We honor the intention of families who dedicated their children to God. However, we believe baptism is a personal decision made after someone has knowingly placed their faith in Jesus. If you were baptized as an infant but have since chosen to follow Christ, we encourage you to be baptized as your own public profession of faith.

No. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus, not by baptism. Baptism is still important because Jesus commanded it as a step of discipleship.

A pastor or leader will briefly explain what baptism represents, then you will be lowered into the water and raised back up as a picture of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.

Not necessarily. Some people share a short story, while others simply answer a few basic questions about their faith. We will walk you through what to expect ahead of time.

That is completely normal. We will explain everything ahead of time, keep it simple, and help you feel prepared.

You do not need to have every theological answer figured out. But you should understand that baptism is a public declaration that you have trusted Jesus and want to follow Him.

If your previous baptism happened before you personally trusted Jesus, or if you did not understand what it meant, being baptized again may be appropriate. We would be glad to talk through that with you.

Wear dark, modest clothing that can get wet. Many people wear a dark shirt and shorts. Bring a towel and a change of clothes. We’ll also have a robe for you to wear if you’d like.

Absolutely! Baptism is a celebration, and we encourage you to invite the people who have been part of your life and faith journey.

Yes, when a child has personally trusted in Jesus and understands what baptism means. We want baptism to be their own choice, not something they feel pressured to do.
